The ancient Greek epic poem THE ILIAD, traditionally attributed to a poet called "Homer," narrates the prelude and opening of the Trojan War. Featuring the Greek heroes Agamemnon and Achilles, it depicts stunning bravery and horror, devotion and hubris. The epic is considered one of the most influential works of antiquity. This edition is a new translation by Greek scholar Christian Harrison.

Author Biography:

From 1978 to 1998, Christian Harrison was adjunct professor of Philosophy and Greek at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. He taught a three-semester sequence, Introduction to Ancient Greek, and a two-semester sequence, Western Ideas and Values. From 1974 to 2004, he was also employed by the State of Arkansas in the Department of Human Services, Department of Finance and Administration, and the Department of Health.
