Description

The Men of Warre examines the clothes, weapons and accoutrements of the Scots at war between 1460 and 1600 using a wide range of sources to present a clear picture of the what the highland and lowland Scots were wearing and fighting with in this crucial and turbulent period in Scotland's history. Scott has carefully drawn together a myriad of sources to present a picture of the Scots from the late medieval to the cusp of the early modern period and the material culture of war. AUTHOR: Jenn Scott is an historian, researcher, and writer based in Edinburgh where she works as Secretary and Archivist for the Stewart Society. Jenn is a re-enactor primarily of the 18th century and the late 15th century. She is the author of Better is the Proud Plaid about the Jacobites of the '45. She is interested in the period from the Wars of the Roses to the Jacobite Risings, and is actively involved in the interpretation, promotion, and protection of Scottish battlefields as a trustee of the Scottish Battlefield Trust. Jenn has spent over 20 years developing her understanding and knowledge of the clothes and material culture of the past. Jenn studied politics at the University of Edinburgh and has an MA in Heritage from University of Surrey. 14 b/w photos, 8 colour illustrations
