Description

This book contains the legends of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. One of the first tales tell of Robin Hood's initial encounter with Little John. As we read on his merry band grows with the addition of Will Scarlet, Midge the miller's son and Friar Tuck. The Sheriff of Nottingham (Robin's arch enemy) is often outsmarted by Robin and his men, and is none too happy when the King decides he wishes to meet the infamous rogue. In Sherwood forest the men have a safe place to go to when their high-jinks land them in hot water

Author Biography

The work of American illustrator and author Howard Pyle (18531911) has appeared in more than 3,500 publications, and in his lifetime, he became one of the country's most famous illustrators. On his death in 1911, the "New York Times" called Pyle "the father of American magazine illustration as it is known to-day." He is best known for his 1883 novel, "The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood." "
