Raymond M. Patterson Jr. owns Cut Styles and More, a successful barbershop in St. Louis, Missouri, as well as a roofing and general contracting company. He made his first million dollars through barbering and is a motivational speaker. His other professional pursuits include instructing barber college, teaching elementary and high school students, producing music, owning a trucking company, and more. Patterson received his bachelor's degree from University of Missouri-St. Louis and his master's in education administration from Missouri Baptist University, as well as being certified in physical training, health, and education administration. He earned football scholarships to Northern Illinois University, where he set seven records and was a nationally ranked kick returner, and Memphis State University, where he set a record 40-yard dash and played alongside Isaac Bruce. He was selected to play in the European Football League in Nuremberg, Germany. He credits the grace of God for his life's accomplishments. The Million Dollar Barber is Patterson's first book for adults; Little Life Skills was his first children's book. Throughout life's trials and tribulations, he has always kept fighting to be successful and to make his mother proud. He grew up in the streets of Kinloch, Missouri, with the guidance of his mother encouraging him to strive for greatness.
