Description

With the help of data available on https: //en.wikipedia.org, http: //www.fightmatrix.com (they have excellently and objectively generated historical MMA rankings), and https: //www.sherdog.com (on Forums and the site in general), I have put together a list of top MMA Heavyweight and Openweight champions (a list of fighters who haven't enjoyed weight class protection and who proved themselves against HWs). To me, a nr. 1 LHW win is as good as a nr. 11 HW win, but a fighter had to have fought at Openweight or HW and won a championship or a tournament there to be included. In this book, I objectively (to my best ability) sorted the fighters according to their time as the nr. 1 fighter (the lineal nr. 1 position), wins over quality opponents, MMA titles, and their MMA record. The list will be changing according to changes in the achievements of active fighters (I intend to upgrade the book every year). It was really difficult to rank some of the fighters, so I understand that we all may rank them differently. Therefore, the main thing that I wanted to do was to provide the readers with interesting and important data so that they can easier decide for themselves how to rank all those great champions. I've put the index on the last page so that I didn't spoil the ranking. Note: Comparing eras according to skills (directly) isn't really fair to pioneers, who had created what the more modern fighters then learned. That is why I value a top 10 win from 1995 the same as a top 10 win from today.
