Author and cartoonist Jeffrey Brown has made a name for himself in the publishing world with his Jedi Academy series, which centres on middle-school student Roan Novachez, who is studying to become a starfighter pilot at Jedi Academy.
But this year, there appears to be a disturbance in the Force, as someone is trying to get Roan into trouble with his teachers and threatening his chance to graduate! Will Roan be able to find out who this mystery bully is and expose them before it's too late-
If your kids are fans of books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, they'll enjoy this story.
What I especially like about it is the different writing styles. This is because as well as the main comic book style storyline, the book also includes diary entries by Roan, doodles, school newspaper articles, report cards, Holobook posts (which seems to be the Star Wars equivilant of Facebook), and lots of other original styles.
And it's not just kids who'll enjoy this book, as parents who grew up with the original Star Wars movies will recognise characters like Master Yoda (who teaches students at Jedi Academy how to master the Force) and Mr Garfield (who looks a lot like Darth Maul from the Star Wars prequel trilogy), as well as locations like Tatooine (which is Roan's home planet), and Naboo (which is a field trip destination in the story).
Overall, this is an exciting illustrated story from a galaxy far, far away, and a must for children (and their parents) who are obsessed with Star Wars.
