Arthur C. Danto is professor emeritus of philosophy at Columbia University. He is the art critic for the Nation and has served as president of the American Philosophical Association. His many books include After the End of Art, Nietzsche as Philosopher, and Art in the Historical Present, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award. In 2003, he was awarded the covered Prix Philosophe.
