Influential as both a singer and composer, he is commonly known as “the King of Soul” for his distinctive vocals and importance within popular music. Like most R&B artists of his time, Sam Cooke focused on singles, he had 29 top 40 hits on the pop charts and even more on the R&B charts. ‘Cooke’s Tour’ was Sam Cooke’s fifth studio album and his first for RCA Victor. Glen Osser wrote the arrangements and conducted the album’s orchestra, which was an R&B rhythm section and a fifteen-piece string ensemble. Albums 1 to 6 are remastered by Vic Anesini, 7 and 8 by Bob Ludwig, both highly respected and revered names.
