Author Biography:

Geboren am 10.11.1759 in Marbach (W�rtt.). Sohn des Milit�rwundarztes J.C. Schiller. Kindheit und Jugend in �rmlichen Verh�ltnissen. Dorfschule, Lateinschule, auf Befehl des Herzogs Karl Eugen 1773 Eintritt in die Karlsschule, dort Medizinstudium ab 1776. 1780 Regimentsmedicus in Stuttgart. Arrest und Schreibverbot wegen Auff�hrung der "R�uber" in Mannheim. Flucht �ber Mannheim (1783), Leipzig (1785), Dresden nach Weimar (1787). 1789 Ernennung zum a.o. Prof. der Geschichte und Philosophie in Jena. 1799 erneute �bersiedelung nach Weimar. Schiller starb am 9.5.1805 in Weimar.
