Description

"What have I started?" thought Ellie'. She had not pictured her offer to create a simple meeting place in her back garden would, within hours make her the chosen leader of such a different group of young people. A girl who spoke numerous languages who brought a friend from Uganda, a boy who lived with his Dad who owned a Python and brought a one eyed dog, and another who carried a guilt complex about the injuries sustained in an earthquake by his younger brother who arrived in a wheelchair, had the most amazing smile and spoke utter gibberish. AND who owned the Parrot? On a damp Tuesday a small group of young people were drawn together for the first time when they agreed to meet in a tent because their Youth Club had been closed down. Needing to find things to do through the school holiday, and with the thought that no matter how hopeless doing something was better than doing nothing, they formed a team around 15 years old 'Ellie' and tried to find ways to fund the repairs to their Club.Very quickly their efforts got out of control. THEY RUINED A TALENT SHOW even though they won it, BECAME LOCAL HEROES by saving the life of a toddler at the Zoo, and SAVED A COMMUNITY CRICKET MATCH by the sheer bravery and determination of group members. Yet those were not their biggest problems. Acting against Police advice their refusals to lose interest in the circumstances of young people ACTING VERY SUSPICIOUSLY at Thornton Manor NEARLY COST LIVES as they eventually smashed a HUMAN TRAFFICKING OPERATION.The book is written with a thought for any reader just progressing through the English language, but always placing the humour and excitement of a good story at the forefront. The Writer hopes by the end that any reader will feel the characters are likeable friends, although care may be needed with the PARROT.
