Description

Issue fifty-five of Theaker's Quarterly Fiction is guest edited by the zine's long-time cover artist, Howard Watts, and includes stories inspired by his art, including competition winner "The Departure" by Mark Lewis, "Our Sad Triangle" by Len Saculla, and "The Stone Gods of Superspace" by Howard Phillips (a TQF crossover special featuring many friends from past issues), plus the more tangentially related "This Alien I" by Antonella Coriander and "The Little Shop That Sold My Heart", and finally an entire weird novella from Anthony Thomson, "My Place". Then a sixty-page review section features the work of Stephen Theaker, Douglas J. Ogurek, Jacob Edwards, Howard Watts and Rafe McGregor. The cover art is by Howard Watts.

Author Biography:

Howard Stephen Watts was born in Brighton, East Sussex. He began writing short stories for the British Science Fiction Association in the mid 1990s, successfully publishing three stories and a couple of articles concerning creative writing. Late 1999 he began writing, composing and subsequently directing his classical Ballet, 'Ribbons' for the Brighton Festival. This took a year to complete. Following this, he scored two plays for the Trellis Theater Company. In 2009 he produced cover art for Theaker's Quarterly Fiction magazine, and continues to do so today. His cover artwork has also been featured by the British Fantasy Society on their Dark Horizons, BFS Journal and BFS Horizons titles. Also during 2009, his original 'Kestrel' model design was featured in and on the cover of Science Fiction and Fantasy Modeler Magazine. He wrote a further two articles for this title concerning his Steampunk 'Phaser' design and a cut away Lightsaber, the latter featured in the 'Star Wars 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition' of this title. In 2010 he returned to writing short fiction, and has had six short stories published to date. Howard is married with two children and lives in the small seaside town of Seaford, East Sussex.
