A collection of tales about feuds, moonshine, shootouts and murder mysteries on Upper Buffalo Creek in Owsley County, Kentucky during the first half of the twentieth century. The tales are all true and were written from material the author obtained from a variety of sources, including Kentucky State Police case files, and in some cases FBI records, trial proceedings and other court records of the men charged with murder, as well as newspaper accounts, and local histories from family members and others.

Author Biography:

Judge Michael Dean, J.D, P.E., is an attorney and civil engineer who serves as the Circuit Judge for the 23rd Judicial Circuit, which includes Owsley County. Dean, a native of Owsley County is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Engineering and the University of Virginia School of Law.
