An artist falls for a young married woman while he's commissioned to paint her portrait during the tulip mania of 17th century Amsterdam. The two invest in the risky tulip market in hopes to build a future together.
Critics Reviews for Tulip Fever:
“Under close analysis, none of this elaborate subterfuge makes much sense, but the film is so polished in its technical proficiency that I found the absence of logic forgivable.” – Rex Reed – New York Observer
“[Tulip Fever is] lush and boisterous and crammed with the sort of arts gossip and commerce trivia that go nicely with gilded frames and talk of tulip futures.” – Bob Mondello – NPR
