If "ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ," as St. Jerome has told us, then lack of faith in Scripture is lack of faith in Christ. It is the author's contention that much biblical commentary in recent centuries has served to undermine the faith of the Church, and that this deleterious effect is profound and has gone greatly unnoticed. Here is a record of the blindness that has plagued the Church for so long, with a call to "turn and become like children" that we may see, that we may know Christ again... and approach His Kingdom.
