Director Robert Aldrich’s (The Dirty Dozen) game of cowboys and Indians is played out through a fine performance by Lancaster as a veteran scout who assists in the gruelling hunt for murderous Apache leader Ulzana. You’ll never trust the sounding of the cavalry charge again.
