Scholars have become increasingly interested in rock music, but few of the many works published on the subject attempt to place the music itself under close and sophisticated scrutiny. This text brings together essays by several of musicology and music theory's young scholars who take a music-analytical perspective. John Covach is Associate Professor of Music at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Graeme M. Boone is Assistant Professor of Music at the Ohio State University.
