Pentatonix is an American acappella group of five vocalists originating from Arlington, Texas. The group won the third season of The Sing-Off on NBC in 2011. The group consists of lead vocalists Scott Hoying (22), Kirstie Maldonado (22) and Mitch Grassi (22), vocal bass Avi Kaplan (25) and beatboxer Kevin “K.O.” Olusola (25).
Since their debut in 2011, the quintet has released 3 EP’s PTX Vol. 1, PTXMAS and PTX Vol 2, selling over 500,000 copies combined.
PTX Vol. 1 (2012), charted at #14 on the Billboard 200 and their second release, PTX Vol. 2 (2013), debuted #10 on the Billboard 200 and #1 for Independent Albums. PTX Vol 2 debuted at #10 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart and featured a 7-song Daft Punk medley.
Having recently eclipsed 6 million subscribers and 520 million cumulative views, the PTXOfficial is currently the 13th most subscribed-to music channel on YouTube, having surpassed the subscriber totals of both Avicii and Beyoncé.
