Description

In the Western world, acupuncture and herbal medicine are considered alternative treatment options and are not practised widely by the medical establishment. However, as the Chinese have discovered, they are very effective in treating PMS, infertility, the discomforts of menopause and other ailments that afflict women. This book presents the case for using traditional Chinese medicine in problems of a gynaecological and obstetrical nature that women encounter from puberty to beyond menopause. "Well Women" shows how these treatments work, when they are appopriate, what happens in treatment, and the scientific basis for these treatments. Offering numerous case histories illustrating how ordinary women were helped by TCM - in some cases after Western medicine had failed - this book presents a strong body of evidence for the use of alternative medicine in American health care. For patients, this book spells out the effectiveness and high rate of cure coupled with very low risk and costs - a definite plus in today's medical world. The goal of this book is to educate women about their treatment options. Education, prevention and self-reliance can only improve women's health. As an active participant in her health, a woman can gather from this book all the information she needs to assess her options and determine the treatment plan that best suits her needs.
