Description

For decades, scholars have disagreed about what kinds of behaviour count as crime. Is it simply a violation of the criminal law? Or is it behaviour that causes serious harm? This examination of crime features contributors who debate the content of crime from diverse perspectives such as: consensus/moral, cultural/relative, conflict/power, anarchist/critical, feminist, racial/ethnic, postmodernist, and integrational.The editors of the book synthesize these perspectives and explore what crime means for each control policy.

Author Biography:

Stuart Henry is professor and director of interdisciplinary studies at Wayne State University, where he also serves as Associate Dean of the College of Lifelong Learning. He is the author of eighteen books and over seventy published articles. Mark Lanier is associate professor of criminal justice and legal studies at the, University of Central Florida. He is the co-author of Essential Criminology (1998) with Stuart Henry.
