Watched this for the first time with my lady and we really enjoyed it.
Firstly; animation is exquisite. Unique to Studio Chizu and big difference to others in the industry. Be warned though there is a 3D modelling technique incorporated into the background elements (people, nature, cars) which may put off some viewers. It took me most of the first half of the film to get used to it.
I was expecting this to be a lot more happy-go-lucky and in turn melodramatic, for lack of a better word, for the sake of development. In actuality, there are many moments in the movie that made us feel actual emotions, be it happy or sad (this peaks the most) and everything in between.
It's been a while that any anime done this for me and so I applaud Wolf Children. It is a largely different Beast to ‘Girl Who Leapt Through Time’ and ‘Summer Wars’.
Very pleasant to watch.
- I like the cardboard slip in this “Special Edition”, just like Summer Wars'.
