Author Biography:

Sharon M. Harris is the Lorraine Sherley Professor of Literature at Texas Christian University and President and Founder of the Society for the Study of American Women Writers. She has published widely on her subject, including 'American Women Writers to 1800: An Oxford Anthology'. This volume includes writings by Judith Sargent Murray, Hannah Adams, Emma Willard and others.
