Description

She was young, pregnant and unwanted. Sent away by her mother to live up north in Chicago with her aunts, Jonetta Miller was faced with two tough choices: to become an in-house prostitute or become homeless. With those dark secrets behind her and literally buried nearly forty years, as far as she is concerned, it's nobody's business. But pieces of her past begin to unfold when her youngest daughter, Dawn, returns home and starts to question a recurring nightmare of an unthinkable crime. With the looming threat of her past being exposed even more difficult to surmount is the meltdown of her two daughters, Phyllis and Colette, who have been like oil and vinegar all their lives. Even though dysfunction and deceit bind this family together, Jonetta fears that the truth will drive them apart. This story will reveal how necessary redemption and forgiveness are for a family to heal.

Author Biography:

Rebekah S. Cole is a Chicago native who grew up in a large family and began writing short stories and poetry as an escape. At an early age, her grandmother introduced her to poetry readings at the local library. As poetry readings became popular among young adults, Rebekah recited her poetry at several locations across the city. She then began taking a stab at writing novels. But as life would have it, motherhood, enrolling in college and a budding finance career took precedent over her first love. However, her passion for creative writing and publishing a novel was still in the back of her mind. In between her demanding schedule, Rebekah served as a panelist at the 2011 Black Women's Expo in Chicago, IL discussing women's issues with self-image. She was also a first place poetry winner for Women's History Month and a contributing editor for her company newsletter and has attended writing workshops. After achieving another life goal, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Rebekah returned to her creative writing skills and completed her debut novel, Women's Voices.
