Description

Pat Tillman was an American pro-football player who turned down a contract for GBP3.6 million in order to leave enlist in the U.S. Army, but he was killed in action in 2004. Original reports cited enemy fire; however, investigations proved that Tillman was killed by friendly fire and that the Army had covered it up. This occurred just days before Rory Fanning - who served in the same unit - left the Army as a conscientious objector. Disquieted by his tours in Afghanistan, Fanning set out to honour Tillman's legacy by crossing the United States on foot. This is Fanning's story.

Author Biography:

Rory Fanning walked across the U.S. for the Pat Tillman Foundation in 2008-2009, following two deployments to Afghanistan with the 2nd Army Ranger Battalion. He is a founding member of Communities United Against Foreclosure and Eviction.
