Author Biography:

Ian Sinclair, one of Africa’s foremost field birders, has led many expeditions to find and research birds and has written more than twenty books on African birds. Phil Hockey (1956–2013) was director at the FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology at the University of Cape Town and a widely recognized authority on the biology of southern African birds. Warwick Tarboton is a well-known bird expert who has written numerous books on southern African birds and dragonflies. He was awarded the Gill Memorial Medal for services to ornithology south of the Zambezi. Niall Perrins is a dedicated photographer and bird guide who runs Bustards Birding Tours. Dominic Rollinson holds a doctorate in seabird conservation from the FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology and works as a guide for Birding Ecotours. Peter Ryan, director of the FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology, is a bird photographer and author who has written a number of books on the birds of southern Africa and on Subantarctic Islands.
