Description

During the 1863 Confederate invasion of the north, Gov. Curtin of Pennsylvania asked for Emergency Militia Troops to be raised. This Battalion was formed partly from students of the Agricultural College of Pennsylvania, which later became Penn State University. Following Gettysburg, they were discharged in August, 1863. Company A - recruited in Cambria County Company B - recruited in Cambria County and Franklin County Company C - recruited in Centre County Company D - recruited across Pennsylvania Company E - recruited in Fulton County and Huntingdon County
