Description

Texas Gidding's Cavalry Battalion organized with six companies in the spring of 1864. It was involved in a skirmish, June 25, 1864 at Rancho Las Rinas, then participated in the final battle of the war at Palmito Ranch May 12-13, 1865. The Battalion was surrendered by General E. K. Smith, commanding Trans-Mississippi Department, on May 26, 1865.
