There are many introductions to linguistics written with the student population in mind, but few that show the relevance of linguistics specifically to students of speech and language therapy. These students, who often do not always receive a separate training in linguistics, are nevertheless preparing for a profession that daily confronts language difficulties and disabilities. This title makes explicit the relevance of lingusitic concepts to the assessment and treatment of language impairment. It also highlights and explains those concepts that are most useful and relevant to language therapy. Finally, the text is written in a psycholinguistic framework and the authors present methodologies that the reader can apply in their everyday work.
