Author Biography:

Sue Tredget lives in Western Australia with her husband, two boys and her cavoodle, Ellie. After taking a year off in 2014 to travel, reconnect with friends and family, and replenish her spirit, Sue left her full-time job in a private girls' school so that she could pursue her other interests. These include travel, writing and raising awareness about mental health. Three years on she continues to teach French on a more flexible basis, which enables her to live a more balanced, mindful and creative life and do the things that make her heart sing. As an Ambassador/Speaker for the Australian not-for-profit organisation beyondblue, Sue is passionate about raising awareness of mental health issues, giving regular presentations at community and corporate events to help break down stigma, silence and shame by sharing her very personal journey through anxiety and depression. She has written a non-fiction book about her experiences, and is working on a collection of poems, both of which she hopes to publish later in the year. She also enjoys writing reflective articles which she posts on her website. Finding her creative voice and the courage to express herself in writing was pivotal to Sue's recovery from depression. As she gave expression to her pain, she was transformed by the healing power of words. Inspired by the spring flowers while on a walking holiday in Spain, Sue began composing rhymes in her head and dreamed of writing books for children. She is passionate about encouraging parents and children to share the joy of reading and never wants to lose touch with her inner child. The seven books that make up My Colour Collection give expression to the beauty of colour and the simple things in life. As she recovered from depression, Sue saw the world around her as if for the first time; the colours of the natural world were a striking juxtaposition with the blackness she had been feeling for too long. Sue recently created Causeway Publishing named after the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland where she grew up, famous for its amazing hexagonal stones and columns. She draws much of her inspiration for her writing from the beauty of the natural world, her daily observations of the little things in life, and her travels. Having recently joined the team at Journeys of the Spirit, Sue looks forward to sharing her knowledge and love of French language and culture when she leads a group along part of the French Camino in 2018. Diana Kelly is an artist and illustrator who is passionate about introducing art to children. She has run numerous workshops in Western Australia and assisted with many more across Australia over the years. Her unique illustrations capture the enthusiasm and curiosity of childhood.
