Welcoming the previous year’s Grand Finalists
A typical North Queensland welcome awaited last season’s Grand Finalists the
Dragons as they made the long trip north to Townsville. In a display of sheer
dominance, the Cowboys bring up a half-century on the scoreboard, with seven
players crossing for tries and Julian O’Neill potting nine goals for
the game.

Having qualified for their first Finals series, the scene is set for an epic Semi Final encounter against the mighty Broncos in Townsville. A packed Dairy Farmers Stadium witnesses David Myles crosses for a lone try, while the final whistle sparks scenes of unrivalled adulation as the Cowboys advance to the Preliminary Finals.

The Cowboys’ famous character and resolve is on display as they travel into enemy territory to take on the highly-fancied Parramatta Eels side in the 2005 Preliminary Final. With nothing to lose, the Cowboys ride roughshod over their opponents, holding them scoreless and booking their first ever Grand Final berth.
