The author gives the perspectives of a detached viewer peeking into windows. She also gives the point of view from one who is partially inside, looking at the outside world. Simpson's Southern roots influence her poems that are in part narrative tales and, also, lyrical observations.

Jane Simpson's poetry has appeared in Atlanta Review, BorderSenses, The Chattahoochee Review, Main Street Rag, POEM, Poeming Pigeon, Poet Lore (Honorable Mention, Ratner-Ferber-Poet Lore Prize), and Sojourner's Magazine. She has been nominated for a 2015 Pushcart Prize. Simpson has worked with non-profit organizations for many years.
