Description

This book presents the results of the analysis of social representations and the patrimonialization of the indigenous past in the Ventania Area of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The research is characterized by its transdisciplinarity, within which theoretical and methodological perspectives from communication studies, cultural studies, anthropology and archaeology converse. A central objective of the book is to analyse the social representations constructed by official institutions, museums, and agents of the cultural field, considering the practices that relate the community to the archaeological record of the hunter-gatherer populations that inhabited the region for approximately 6,000 years. The research made it possible to explain the power relations that operate in the link between present and past, framed in the communicative interactions between subjects, their past and archaeological heritage. Likewise, the book contributes elements for the elaboration of policies of distinction, dissemination, and preservation of the archaeological record.
