Author Biography

Lisa M. Bolt Simons, a teacher by day, has published several nonfiction children's books, as well as articles in various publications. She's been awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board grant, a McKnight Artist Fellowship for Writers/Loft Award in Children's Literature Honorable Mention, and a Shabo Award from The Loft Literary Center. She lives in Minnesota with her husband and teen twins. Mary Boone has ridden an elephant, jumped out of an airplane, and hung out backstage with a boy band - all to do research for her articles and books. Mary has written more than 45 books for young readers. She grew up in Iowa and now lives in Tacoma, Wash., with her husband, two teen-age children, and an Airedale terrier named Iris.
