Author Biography:

Gil VanOrder, Jr. received his BA degree in psychology from Houghton College in New York in 1971 and began a Masters Program in Youth Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary before moving to Hawaii. For almost twenty years he was a fulltime youth worker with both Young Life and Youth For Christ. He also served as a Church youth director and a homeless shelter director. Today, he lives just north of Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, Sandee. After years of living apart from his adult children, all have relocated to the Atlanta area and live within a few miles of each other. As a result, he spends a great deal of time enjoying his family, especially his grandchildren. He has been a parent for over forty years and a grandfather for over eighteen years. In addition to "8 Ways to Show Your Kids You Love Them," he has written five other books. His semi-autobiographical book is entitled, "Why Do We Have To Deal With So Many Troubles?" In another he tells of his personal experiences working with urban youth involved in a racist Muslim cult entitled, "Jesus Loves Allah." In his book, "A Good Shepherd Seeks to Save All His Lost Sheep," he exposes the faulty exegesis found in Reformed Theology (Calvinism). His book "Jesus or Mohammed: Love or Law" compares the founder of Christianity with the founder of Islam showing the profound differences between the two. Finally, he has written a book entitled, "Blindfolded: Why We Can't See God." This book explains the various things that block our vision of the Almighty.
