Author Biography:

Historian Thomas D. "Tom" Perry was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina, the town native son Andy Griffith made famous as Mayberry. Perry grew up in Ararat, Patrick County, Virginia, near the birthplace of J. E. B. Stuart, and Virginia Tech, where he studied under Civil War professor James I. Robertson, Jr. Perry writes about history along the Virginia and North Carolina border.
